Rachel is a trainee patent attorney in our chemistry and life sciences team. Since joining Venner Shipley, Rachel has gathered experience in prosecuting UK and European patent applications in a wide variety of technical areas including pharmaceuticals, materials, polymers and medical devices.
Rachel studied Chemistry at the University of Oxford where she was awarded the Brian Bannister prize in Organic Chemistry for her final year project which involved the synthesis of novel compounds for spin labelling of DNA. In Cambridge, her doctoral studies focused on the total synthesis of natural product analogues as cytotoxic warheads for incorporation into antibody – drug conjugates. Rachel was awarded a highly commended thesis prize by the University of Cambridge for the remarkable contribution her PhD thesis made to this field.
Rachel graduated from the University of Oxford in 2015 with a first class degree in Chemistry before completing her PhD in Organic Chemistry at the University of Cambridge in 2019.
