As a dual-qualified Patent and Trade Mark Attorney and a qualified IP litigator, Paul brings broad experience of IP protection and advice to the Manchester team. Before joining Venner Shipley LLP, Paul was a partner in an IP firm and handled the portfolios of several global corporations and directly advised the boards of many UK based manufacturers.
Paul has a strong technical background in engineering and a particular interest in manufacturing, utilising his expertise to undertake drafting work and to prosecute patent applications through the UK and European patent systems.
In addition to strong patent expertise, Paul has experience in advising clients on Trade Marks, Design protection and IP enforcement. This allows Paul to provide commercially focussed, specialist advice across the whole IP spectrum.
Paul is a clear communicator and regularly represents clients at oral proceedings before the EPO’s Examination and Opposition divisions.
Paul completed a Masters degree and subsequent PhD at Loughborough University researching into the manufacture and assembly of Opoto electronic circuit boards.
Having completed the Intellectual Property Litigation and Advocacy course at Nottingham University Law School, Paul is qualified to litigate in the Higher Courts.
