Julia is a solicitor (non-practising) and a chartered UK and European trade mark attorney. After qualifying as a solicitor, Julia worked in-house at a well known private equity and venture capital company and at leading firms of London solicitors advising on corporate and financial transactions. She later retrained as a trade mark attorney which means she brings a breadth of commercial expertise to her trade mark practice.
Julia advises on all aspects of trade mark law and practice and has a wide range of clients in the private corporate and not-for profit sectors covering a variety of areas including pharmaceuticals, food, fashion, entertainment and education. Her main area of expertise is in supporting small and medium sized businesses in their brand management and the development and organisation of their trade mark portfolios both in the UK and internationally. This includes the clearance and prosecution of new brand names and their protection through proceedings at the UK and EU trade mark registries and other trade mark registries worldwide. She also advises on and negotiates trade mark co-existence and settlement agreements and licensing arrangements.
Julia has an Honours degree in Law from Durham University and a Masters degree in Research in Law from University of London, Birkbeck College. She has also been awarded a post graduate certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Brunel University.
