Senior Associate, James Varley has written an article for intellectual property media platform, IAM, covering developments at the European Patent Office (EPO) on patenting AI-assisted inventions in view of the recent DABUS decision handed down by the Boards of Appeal.

The article explores some of the implications of the DABUS decision for inventorship and ownership of European patent applications for inventions that have been derived using AI, and in particular the importance of being aware of how the use of AI could potentially affect the ownership of an invention.
