Our biotechnology team is made up of attorneys with various technical backgrounds and diverse areas of specialist knowledge as well as lawyers who can help with any legal issues that may arise. As biotechnology is a complex and continually evolving area of patent law, we ensure that we are constantly monitoring developments in Europe and elsewhere so that we can provide our clients with the most relevant advice.
Contentious proceedings regularly arise and we have extensive experience of handling oppositions and appeals before the European Patent Office. We have a wealth of expertise in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, advising on potential infringement, and preparing due diligence reports, in all aspects of biotechnology including genetics and gene regulation, pharmacogenetics, nucleic acid therapeutics, protein and peptide therapies, antibody engineering and therapeutics, stem cells, immunology, virology, bacteriology, and processes for delivery, production and purification.
We also have experience in obtaining supplementary protection certificates (SPCs) and opposing SPC applications.
