Tanya is a Chartered and European patent attorney. Since joining the profession and Venner Shipley LLP in 2003, Tanya has gained considerable experience in drafting and prosecuting UK, European and international patent applications. She also regularly liaises with patent attorneys in other countries including the US, Canada, Australia and Japan to prosecute patent applications at their national patent offices.

Tanya’s particular areas of interest are in the fields of pharmaceuticals and biotechnology (including biochemistry, molecular biology and genetics) and she has worked with a number of well known companies in these sectors.

Education

Tanya graduated from the University of Liverpool with a first class honours degree in Applied Biochemistry and two scholarships for excellence. Her degree included a year working in research at British Biotech in the Protein Chemistry department. Tanya subsequently gained a DPhil from the University of Oxford, where her research involved the biochemical and physiological characterisation of the cardiac, vascular and nervous systems in Fabry disease and treatment of the disease using substrate reduction therapy. Tanya also holds a certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary, University of London.
