As a Chartered and European patent attorney, Stephen has a wide range of experience across all aspects of patent law, from the drafting, filing and prosecution of British, European and international patent applications, to working on opposition and appeal cases before the European Patent Office and undertaking infringement clearance tasks.

Throughout his career, Stephen has specialised in new technologies across a variety of chemically orientated fields, such as those relating to synthetic organic, medicinal, process and polymer chemistry, pharmaceutical and cosmetic formulations, and bulk and agro-chemicals. His depth of expertise in this area is further reinforced by his academic background.

A combination of legal competence, technical expertise and practical experience means Stephen is well placed to advise his clients on all patent matters in the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors.

Education

Stephen has a first class honours degree in Chemistry from the University of Oxford. He was then awarded a DPhil in Organic Chemistry, also from the University of Oxford, studying the synthesis and physical properties of carbohydrate-derived peptidomimetics. Following this he attended Queen Mary, University of London where he attained a certificate in Intellectual Property Law.
