Sofie joined Venner Shipley in 2008 and is a part-qualified patent attorney. Sofie assists in the preparation, filing and prosecution of patent and design applications in all areas of mechanical engineering.

Before joining Venner Shipley, Sofie gained experience in material science researching and characterising materials for welding applications. She has also been involved in developing nano-titanium composites for orthopaedic devices.

Education

Sofie graduated from Queen Mary with an honours degree in Materials Engineering in Medicine. During her degree she studied materials science and engineering in which she focused on finite element analysis of structures for various applications and received two awards for excellence. She has also completed a PhD from King’s College London which involved developing and characterising composites for synthetic bone grafts assisting in the process of new bone formation.
