Robert joined Venner Shipley in 2008 and he is a part-qualified patent attorney. The focus of his work is the filing and prosecution of patent applications in the fields of electronics and telecommunications.
He has experience of prosecuting applications from a range of industry sectors, having worked on cases as diverse as display technologies, network protocols and hardware, air conditioning units, vending machine technologies and industrial support systems.

Education
Robert graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2004 with an MSci in Natural Sciences. During his undergraduate degree he studied such subjects as chemistry, maths and geology before specialising in materials science during his final two years. He remained at the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy in Cambridge to study for his PhD, focussing on the characterisation and development of a new ultra-high density solid-state memory technology based on phase-change alloys. During the course of his PhD project he also developed an entirely new technique enabling high-resolution imaging of data marks on optical disks.
