Matthew joined Venner Shipley in 2007 and he is a part-qualified patent attorney. He specialises in the filing and prosecution of patent applications in the field of pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.
In addition to drafting and prosecuting UK, European, and international patent applications, Matt has experience with many aspects of patent work and has recently been involved in registering the acquisition of a large portfolio of patents by an international biotech company.

Education
Matt graduated from the University of Oxford with a Masters degree in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry. During his PhD in immunology at University College, London, he investigated intracellular signalling pathways regulating the morphology and survival of dendritic cells, and developed a novel assay for the quantification of endocytosis. Matt subsequently worked as a postdoctoral scientist at the MRC's National Institute for Medical Research, investigating the Nf-kappaB signalling pathway in macrophages using cellular, molecular biological, and transgenic technologies.
