Eimear is a chartered patent attorney and, prior to joining Venner Shipley in 2008, she worked at another firm of UK patent attorneys. Eimear has experience in the drafting, filing and prosecution of patent applications in the UK, Europe and elsewhere and, in particular, has prosecuted a large number of patent applications before the UK Intellectual Property Office.
Eimear has worked closely with various clients, from private individuals to large multinational companies across the fields of chemistry and biochemistry. She specialises particularly in pharmaceutical compositions, biodiagnostics and fuel cell technology. Before entering the patent profession in 2003, Eimear worked in industry in the field of in vitro diagnostic devices.
Eimear is particularly interested in the development of UK case law and has written a number of articles on the subject.

Education
Eimear graduated from Dublin City University with an honours degree in Chemistry with French, which incorporated a 12-month placement studying chemistry at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier. She was subsequently awarded a PhD, also from Dublin City University, in chemistry for bioanalytical research focusing on the use of capillary electrophoresis to study sample stacking techniques for improved detection of low level metabolites of model compounds. She then went on to study at Queen Mary, University of London for a certificate in Intellectual Property Law.
