Ed is a fully qualified UK trade mark attorney. Since joining Venner Shipley in 2006, Ed has focussed on filing and prosecuting trade mark applications in the UK and overseas, which includes responding to objections that are raised by the UK and European trade mark offices.

Ed also completes trade mark clearance searches highlighting any threats posed by earlier trade marks, advising how any potential obstacles might be overcome and also proposing alternative filing strategies where appropriate. He has particular experience and expertise of trade marks in the field of consumer electronics.

Ed has experience in several other areas of intellectual property law including domain name disputes, where he has successfully reclaimed a domain name on behalf of one of our clients that had been registered by a cybersquatter.

Education

Ed studied English Literature at the University of Sheffield and he completed his certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary, University of London in 2007.
