David joined Venner Shipley in 2004 and is a Chartered and European patent attorney. He handles all aspects of patent practice and undertakes work for a wide range of clients from individual inventors to multinational companies. David has particular experience in the preparation and filing of new patent applications and prosecution of applications through to grant in the UK, Europe and overseas. David also deals with registered design applications and is able to provide valuable and comprehensive advice on the types of protection available for new products and inventions.
David has technical competence extending across a wide range of mechanical fields and he has experience in diverse technical fields, ranging from medical devices and electrical components to lifting machinery for the construction industry and packaging. Prior to joining Venner Shipley, David worked for a company specialising in the development of vacuum pump and exhaust management system solutions and was heavily involved in the development and testing of new and innovative products. This experience helps him to evaluate the practical aspects of obtaining intellectual property protection for a product from a client’s point of view.

Education
David graduated from the University of Bath with a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering. He also attended Queen Mary, University of London where he completed a certificate in Intellectual Property Law.
