Making Headway

Venner Shipley is pleased to support Headway East London, a small charity which helps people with acquired brain injury, their family and their carers.
Rachel Harrison took an interest in the charity three years ago when she met one of the people who attends Headway’s day centre in Hackney, East London. She was lucky enough to be invited recently to see the centre and meet the staff and members. Headway provides a unique facility for people who have a head injury as a result of an accident or illness. The centre accommodates around 130 people each week and offers a wide range of therapies, as well as being a place where members can spend time with people coping with similar problems and support each other.
Although some members receive additional funding from the National Health Service, the centre relies heavily on charitable donations. In addition to Venner Shipley’s support as a firm, Rachel Harrison is signing up for the New York Marathon in November 2010 and all money raised will go to Headway to help towards more equipment for their rehabilitation programme. In addition, Venner Shipley is hoping to be able to help Headway East London obtain protection for its logo and provide any IP advice that Headway needs.
