Webinars
What is a webinar?
Webinars, Web Seminars or Web conferencing are used to conduct live meetings or presentations via the Internet. In a webinar, each participant sits at his or her own computer and is connected to the presentation via the internet. Venner Shipley uses Citrix’s broadcasting product, Gotowebinar, which is a web-based application where the attendees access the meeting by clicking on a link distributed by e-mail (meeting invitation) to enter the conference.
At the time of the conference you should click the link that was previously emailed to you and you will be guided through the rest of the process. You should allow 5 minutes before the official start time to go through this process, especially if this is your first time accessing one of our webinars.
Upon joining the webinar the visual elements of the presentation will then be displayed on your screen in real time. You will hear the audio either through your computers standard audio output or via their telephone. If you would like to listen in through your telephone (perhaps your computer is not set up for good quality audio output) you call a telephone number and input an access code (both provided in the earlier email) which provides you with direct access to the audio.
The presenter/s speak using VoIP (Voice over IP) while pointing out information being presented onscreen, and the audience can respond and ask questions through the simple messaging interface.
If you have never taken part in a webinar, let us assure you that it is both very simple and convenient.
